SURGICAL EXPERIENCE

She is specialist in Cataract surgery and Glaucoma surgery. She has performed more than 18000 PHACO Surgeries till date. She has recently trained in FLACS (Femto Cataract Surgery) and have been certified by Johnson & Johnson to operate on the Catalys Precision Laser System.

She has performed the highest number of Phacoemulsification operations with Premium MULTIFOCAL IOLS in a stand alone surgical practice in Eastern India, having been trained in the USA for the same. She has taught several surgeons criteria for multifocal lens implantation at various conferences in India and abroad. MEDICAL retina evaluation is performed and the best surgical retina opinion is arranged for.
She is not a retinal surgeon but has an interest in medical retina cases.

PRESENT APPOINTMENTS IN KOLKATA

After her return to Calcutta, India in January 1996, She has been attached as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon to Wockhardt Medical Centre and Wockhardt Hospital (now FORTIS HOSPITAL). She has a special area of interest in Phaco surgery with PREMIUM lens, including correction of astigmatism and presbyopia with IOLs.

Awarded APARAJITA Award (JURORS CHOICE) in 2012 in the field of healthcare.

Awarded the IIRSI Special Gold Medal in 2016 for general proficiency in field of work.

In India, She has actively participated in various state and national academic meetings and presented papers and videos of various operations. She also travels to conferences in the USA and Europe every year to keep herself informed of latest surgical and treatment modalities.

Her surgical videos on Complication Management in challenging Cases has been accepted by the ESCRS at Paris 2010, Vienna 2011, Milan 2012, Vienna 2018, Paris 2019 and also Amsterdam 2021.

She enjoys travelling and meeting people of all different social backgrounds, cultures and languages (India, U.K., Europe, USA). She is a member of Rotary Club of Calcutta . She enjoys reading books, cooking and photography. She is also a member of the think tank organization THE BENGAL INITIATIVE where the members meet at regular intervals and invite famous intellectual speakers to share their views on important social issues. She is a member of The Ladies Study Group which meets regularly to discuss ways to improve our environment and other topics. She is a member of the INDIAN WOMEN NETWORK (IWN) working towards womens empowerment. She is a Paul Harris Fellow ( Rotarian ). She is on the General Committee of The Bengal Club Kolkata established 1827.
